What we’re doing to support our immune systems

With everything happening right now and this also being cold and flu season, I thought it would be helpful to compile of list of the current supplements Erik and I are taking and things we’re doing to help boost our immune systems.

Erik’s been pouring us a teaspoon of Black Elderberry Syrup every morning. Elderberry syrup is known for it’s powerful immune-boosting properties because it’s packed with antioxidants and vitamins.

We’ve been drinking Elderberry & Echinacea tea. Much like elderberry, echinacea is known for boosting the immune system and may reduce symptoms of colds and flu.

We’ve been adding fresh ginger into recipes and getting it in the form of wellness shots. Ginger is a superfood and is known for it’s powerful anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antioxidant effects.

We’ve been cooking with fresh garlic (more than one clove at a time). Garlic contains compounds that have been shown to boost the body’s disease-fighting response to viruses that cause the common cold or flu.

We’ve been cooking with turmeric and getting it in the form of wellness shots. Turmeric may help boost your immune system and contains natural anti bacterial agents.

We’ve been continuing to take Wedderspoon Manuka Honey either in matcha, tea, dressings, Manuka Honey Immunity Gummies, or alone. You guys know that I swear by Manuka honey because of it’s amazing benefits both by digestion and when applied topically.

We’ve been taking Manuka Honey Immunity Gummies. This is a new product from Wedderspoon and it couldn’t have come at a better time. Each serving of the Immunity Gummies is crafted with Manuka honey, whole fruits and essential nutrients including a daily boost of 100% RDI of zinc, selenium and whole food vitamin C. They are also made without cane sugar, corn syrup, glucose or artificial sweeteners.

We’ve been continuing to incorporate fresh fruit & veggies into our meals! Whether I’m making us immune boosting Citrus Dreamscicle smoothies or adding tons of fresh veggies into our dinners, we’re trying to soak up all the amazing nutrients that plants have to offer!

We’ve been getting outside everyday while being responsible and keeping social distance. We have been taking Bay for long walks and we’ve been getting runs in. This has been so important for us as we have not been doing our normal activities like taking Bay to brunch or grabbing matcha from our favorite local coffee shop and exploring local spots.

We’re staying hydrated! We’re drinking tons of water everyday to help our bodies flush out toxins and to keep our organs hydrated so that they can work properly!

We’re getting our zzz’s! Getting enough sleep each night has been shown to contribute to a healthier immune system. In order to help us maintain restful sleep, we set a sleep schedule each night, eliminate phone exposure and avoid meals too close to bedtime.

Stay safe & healthy!

xx Elizabeth
